Chapter 2 The humans

It was a day like any other. We were still in the den sleeping. The other wolves besides mom had left on a hunt. We did not hear the truck pull up. We didn't hear the doors close. We didn't hear the hushed voices of man. All of a sudden I was grabbed wildly and tusseled about. Mom gave a snarl. But to meet her was a metal fence now over the hole. Then one of the humans went over to the truck and took out a jug of something I would learn was gas. The man dumped the entire thing down the hole. The man looked around (right now it was ileagal to preform denning). Then the man that was holding my mouth shut so I couldn't bite him yelled,

"Hay were it the chain with the collar at the end of it?"

"Remember the warden took it away, just use some rope"

At that the man took a peice of rope out of the truck and tied one end around my neck tight. Then he tied the other to a nerby tree. Then the man that had pored the gas. To the cigar out of his mouth and threw it in the hole. Imitatly it caught fire and there were howls of pain from it. I watched in horror as my Brother and sister strugled against the fence to no effect. I watched the skin peel away and the red meat underneath and then they where blocked out my smoke.

I then howled to the rest of the pack. Little did I know that is what the humans wanted.
